Would this solve the problem with the MAF or is it like a piggyback that the computer might learn around

I haven't seen it personally, but I'd say neither.

Apparently what it's doing is simulating a MAF sensor signal based on manifold pressure, intake air temeperature, and engine speed.

The way you do that is by using prior knowledge of the engine's volumetric efficiency, and prior knowledge of the MAF sensor's transfer function.

I'm guessing the volumetric efficiency maps and MAF transfer functions are stored in the ROMs that he says he can get for various cars? I doubt you'll find one for the EJ22T...

Even if you did, in the end you'd still be limited by the stock MAF's sensing range, anyway, since you'd still be using the stock ECU.

And I don't particularly like seeing what should be a very tunable and adjustable device only have four knobs on the front. Maybe you can connect it to a computer though. Or maybe they're relying on the ECU learning around it to get good air/fuel ratios. The thing is, real speed density ECUs make up for their imprecision by using oxygen sensor feedback differently. Our stock ECUs aren't meant to work that way.

If you decide to drop 600 dollars on this, please let us know if it works out. But my advice is not to. You could get a used standalone ECU for that kind of coin, no?

I'm not planning on dropping 600 for one, I was just curious, i'm kinda leaning towards an autronic sometime in the future when i can afford one, the autotune feature looks very attractive to me.
