Light Trouble

I have a pair of Hella 500 driving lights mounted on my bumper. The directions that came with the lights were crappy so I was kinda flying blind when I installed them. I managed to hook up the 500's to my highbeams so they came on whenever I had the highbeams on. I wanted to hook them up to a switch so I got an illuminated on from Advance Auto. Long story short the switch dosnt work and sometime during the install I blew a fuse for the drivers side headlight. I got in the car to go get a new fuse and relized that one of the bulbs that illuminated the speedometer was burnt out. I got pissed cause it looked like crap. Well to my surprise when I put in the new fuse for the headlight, the gauge cluster light started working again. So my question is why are they linked? Any thoughts

That sounds like a separate problem... A headlight fuse shouldn't affect one bulb in the instrument cluster.

http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8 ... g_(US).pdf is a scan of the FSM for the headlights - no connection to the cluster lighting.

they are spreading the load around so that you'd have to lose both fuses to darken the entire speedo, as a safety measure. No different that putting left and right side lights on separate circuits so you can't lose all tail light at once.

Which fuse did you replace?
