Couple months ago my friend finally got an 05 STi, brand spanking new, he's a lucky little bastard

. He used to have a 328i and was told he could get a new car and when I heard about this I badgered and bragged about Subaru. He's happy with his new work of art. It truly is, wow. The dealership told him though that a boost gauge would cost him 300 dollars and so he said no thanks and after a glance he some expensive ones and didn't realize that there are affordable ones. I've offered to help him fab up and install whatever so he's finally looking for a gauge. Does anyone have links to some good sources or such? Thanks.

Defi gauges are sweet and match everything in the car. But they are super bling cash money.

$300 for a Genuine Subaru boost gauge?? I've seen a new one online for $180. Defi gauges are super sweet, but like BAC5.2 said uber expensive. Autometer might be a possibility, I don't know about their quality though.

My friend is wanting to have one of those interior windshield mounts, this being the case are there readily available empty mounts to which I could find a gauge off say McMaster and get it cheaper. Also along these lines, how important is it to have the gauge mounted up there on the windshield vs. down in the center console or such? Thanks for all the info so far, there's no reason he shouldn't have one and I plan to make sure this gets alleviated

Awesome link Legacy_n_Jpn. I think if he could do the whole thing for less than 100 he'd be plenty happy which I don't see as being that hard. Also, just how important is it to have the boost gauge on the windshield as opposed to in the center console? Thanks.
P.S. Last night driving going down a set of hills, while his tires were 'technically' touching the ground I believe his suspension was about as unsprung as it gets, that was a sensation.

It doesn't really matter where it's at. I love watching mine so it's custom fabed into the instrument cluster. And I'm always messing with my boost so...

Alright, thanks guys. I'll talk to him about placement and try to save him a few bucks.
