My moms 99 Forester is having acceration issues. I have changed the plugs, fuel filter, and filter. I haven't tryed anything and I'm all out of ideas.

Problem: When you step on the gas, the car goes no where. It feels like a lurch then promtly feels like it is going to die, then all of a sudden picks up and drives fine. I'm not sure what the problem could be. Any help would be appreciated!

Is it an automatic? Maybe it's a transmission issue.

Try resetting the ECU. The modern cars really lean out the mixture at idle, and resetting it should help you troubleshoot.

I have had trouble with front o2's too, similar symptoms.

yeah.. that whole stomping the gas and going nowhere thing sounds REALLY familiar now.. could be the tranny.. what's it been through? have there been recalls on that at all?

It's been on a lot of trips but that's about it. It is an Auto. Think the TCU ought to do it?

Most importantly, do the revs jump when you hop on the gas?

If not, then it's likely a TCU problem.

If so, then you can pretty much be assured that the tranny is at fault.

Not really. You romp on it and it feels like the car is about to die and the rpms dip into the low hundreds.

mm... IAC, perhaps?
is there a way to pull the codes on that car.. They're new, so i have no idea how those ones work.. can't you get it to a CSK, or something and have 'em use the scantool for free?

It doesn't pull code or else the CEL would be on, right? :-\
