I have a 92 Legacy 4wd LS with 126000 mi. sometimes while driving, the car starts shaking and sometimes stalls, the power goes down, and a vibration is felt through the car. I have been told it is a torque convertor, oxygen sensor, and purge cannister control. Does anybody have any ideas where to start looking. It could get expensive.................jf

Thats true. I think thats the problem, its locking up when it shouldnt and staying that way when you stop.
The shudder he feels is every time the vehicle shifts weight, either by applyin more/less throttle or changing gears. The car trying to quit at a stop is caused by the final downshift to first while the brakes are applied.
Honestly the first thing Id check is the color and smell of the transmission fluid. I had modified my wagon to do this for better response, thats why I knew what it was so fast when my LSI sedan started to do it on its own. Changing the brown transmission fluid helped.

ciper, thanks for your input, the fluid is a good place to start.
