i am soon leaving to get my new (to me) '94 SS.

cant wait. we are having crappy windy weather w/the treat of freezing rain and gusts of up to 50mph. but that isnt stopping me.

family and i are caravaning in two cars for safety since the rear to alignemnt on my 90 sedan is a bit "aggresive" for street driving. so they will follow in the '95.

tonight will be spent stripping the 90 to get ready for rallyx duty next year and then its off to the turbo sunday morning. yay!

i dont think i will be able to sleep tonight! barely did last night.

its a winestone/maroon looking color. cant remember the exact name off the top of my head. it has some rust on the fenders, decklid, rear 1/4s, and the drivers door but thats ok. i am getting the stock wheels w/hakka 1s and a set of gold 98 RS wheels w/712s. tranny was recently redone and has been trouble free since. 3-4 years of rallyx and autox caught up w/it. i think it has AGXs too. all at an amzing price. out of respect for the seller i will not say how much though as this was a deal between friends.

Awesome! Another to the 94 club!

What's your rear toe setting on the 90? Why aggressive for street driving?

something is bent. it has enough toe out that you can see it visually. didnt get a printout but it is something like 2" total L+R. fine on dry pavemet and scary as hell on ice if you arent paying attention. and a blast on rallyx it rotates like you wouldnt believe. i can drift that thing like no tomorrow on the dirt. VERY tailhappy. not going to bother fixing it ias it will be a dedicated rallyx car now. we may at some time replace iot w/the whitleline adjustable lateral links at some point.

Jesus! 2" is INSANE!

And here I am, thinking that 1/16th out is getting to the realm of ideal, borderline sketchy.

What will be the role of the SS? High powered touring car?

I'm happy for ya, man.

yeah the 90 is a blast on the rallyx turn in is amazing.

G-reg, i got it from a friend in the twin cities. some of you may have seen this car before. it is on this page, http://www.visi.com/~jimcox/J%26K%20Autocross.htm , as the info he was given by SOA, and quoted on his site, is the source of the 688 debate i believe.

the silver wheels are now painted an anthracite-like color. if you browse around on his site you will see his red S-10 rallytruck. my brother and i helped build it and my brother has codriven it and i have codriven in his old truck.

im not sure how accurate the 2" total toe out number is as the tech didnt give me a print out and i really dont trust this shop. its a local shop that doesnt do subies much i just had it in to change some junk tires and do a check on the alignment. but either way the toe out is so extreme that i could wear the inside edge of a tire pretty fast on the highway.

the 94 SS is my daily car. that will slowly be modded to be a fast road car. no competition for it. cant afford to fix that tranny if i break it. it
allready has AGX and a set of the RS wheels. it also has upraded brake pads. and a recently rebuilt tranny and new clutch. all new syncros, bearings and retainers.

plan is as follows:

allready have these (form old car) just have to put them on:
perrin light crank pulley
GN pitch stopper, engine and tranny mounts

this is the stuff i want to get next year in this order:
tint windows
boost gauge
some type of shiter upgrade. either a Kartboy or STi (the sotck one is all floppy)
turbo back exh.
stainless steel brake lines
some type of intercooler, either saab unit or a old slanted WRX unit
MBC done at same time as IC
w/a swap to a walbro fuel pump in there somewhere.

pie in the sky stuff:
repaint it rally blue pearl or gun metal like the RB5 impreza
custom mounted touring seats
swap to canadian style non power belts in front (god i hate those power belts)
water injection
full dog box tranny w/a 4.44 final drive ratio and a rear LSD
more efficient/bigger turbo
engine management of some type
FMIC

the car needs some rust repair on the left rear 1/4 panel in the typical subaru spot. it should have the fenders, drivers door, and decklid replaced soon due to rust. but no rush on those as they are all bolt on and wont "infect" anywhere else. and fix the antenna. the motor works but the mast is broken and hangs around all floppy in the wind.

the painting may happen sooner depending on how good of a job my brother and i do on the rallyx machine.

whew, that was longer than i intended and i still havent covered all of my plans.

The easiest way to fix the shifter sloppiness is to simply replace the bushings.

Use the Energy shifter bushing from a GD, and press it in (easy. 1 golden wrench of difficulty), and then it will be a lot better.

I am making a solid rear shifter bushing mount to keep things even more tightly put together, and eliminate all slop whatsoever.

The shifter sloppiness is a result of bad bushings.

Oh, and the RB5 Impreza was Steel Blue Mica :). My friend is building his car and it will be painted that color....

Welcome to Winstone country. It's a perdy color.

I saw an RB5 in Delphi, Greece. I talked to the owner who was a Subaru rally fanatic (was wearing my 555 team hat at the time, too). Bought an elephant sculpture off him. That color is beautiful! I wish they would reintroduce that for the new Legacy.

i agree it is a nice color. its just a bit too subtle for me. although it is growing on me more and more.

i absolutely love the interior colors though. the blue in my 90 annoyed the heck out of me.
