FWD axles and tranny cooler

I was thinking the other day, and I was wondering if using FWD axles on an AWD car would work at all. I've heard that they're "beefed up" compared to the AWD versions, and I've found that they cost more new. So would there be any advantage to using them?

Also, has anyone installed a tranny cooler on their turbo'd car? I've got the 4EAT in mine, and was wondering if I should install one or if it's unnecessary. I watched my friend's SVX die of transmission failure last year and I'd hate for it to happen to my SS. Granted the SVX has 70hp more, and a higher FD, so I didn't know what to do in this case.

FWD axles are stronger than AWD axles. Now whether or not you can use the FWD axles for te rear in an AWD Legacy I'm not sure, but the front from what I understand they are a direct replacement. So yes if you are going to putting out a lot of power there is an advantage to having them, I'll be keeping mine when I got AWD.

Trans cooler... sorry I'm of no help there.

Install a tranny cooler, it'll help prolong tranny life.
