Wooo! SNOW!!!!

Well, it snowed this morning. Not less than moving my car 20 feet, had I started playing. There is a huge 'S' leaving my driveway :). I spun out completely once when pulling into 7-11. There was a curb, so I just let it come around so I wouldn't hit the curb.

First: RE92's suck in the snow.

Second: This is my first time in the snow with Lauren. Let me tell you guys something. She's as fun in the snow, as she is in the dry. It's the exact opposite spectrum of traction.

The roads were really really really slick today, but the car felt pretty sure footed over it. One thing I have noticed, that was pretty fun, is that I can, have no traction in any gear.

I was rolling, hit it in 1st, and spun free. Gingerly shifted to 2nd, spooled up, spun free. Got into 3rd, spooled up, spun free. Got into 4th, spooled up, spun free.

Now, I wasn't traveling very quickly, and before I hit boost in each gear, I didn't break loose. In 4th, I was only going at about 2500 RPM's. It was super cool.

I saw a bunch of accidents already though, and that kinda sucked. It was unusually slick today.

It's coming down pretty steady here.
I haven't been able to spin free above 2nd tho :(
But I sould be getting my exhaust in very soon, so maybee before the roads clear up again I can test it :)

I have been having my share of fun in vacant lots tho 8)

Your tires are too good. Get some bald RE-92's on there and you will be able to spin free in 5th gear like me :P .

That reminds me of last year when I took the legacy out. Got up at 5:00am just to play around!!

Man, i miss that car... and I knew it... as soon as I didn't have a legacy anymore it starts snowing more.

I can spin 5th at low rpm in my car in the snow. :) It's supposed to snow down there Sunday, too. Just in time for the Patriots and Steelers to battle it out.

I can't spin in 5th. Mostly because my car doesn't have 5th

Heh, up here in Ithaca it's crazy cold and snowing. I wanted to get my car in the garage so I could finish up my audio install, but I was a few hours too late. Now it's so cold that I don't really want to go out and get all of the snow and ice off of it and drag it into the garage, since the garage isn't heated at all...

But I'd love it to just get the snow off and take her for a drive early in the morning or late in the day. Empty lots are so much fun! A few days ago I was out on a bunch of errands and such, it was pretty slick on the roads... if I mashed the throttle, my wheels'd slip free. But even so, she felt really sure in the snow, to the point where even as I slipped a bit around a turn it felt alright. The beauty of Front-Wheel Drive. XD

But you know what makes me mad about the snow here? It brings out a crapload of drivers who know absolutely nothing about how to drive in the snow. Case in point, I was a mile and a half away from my house, going up my hill... and there was a Cadillac with front-wheel drive going under 5 MPH. How did I know it was front-wheel? The front tires were 45-degrees offset from the road direction and were spinning freely. As the cars behind me began to get annoyed, I just kept thinking about how he and I have the same drivetrain so he has no excuse for going under 5. >.>; Maybe Subaru's FWD is just better or something. But it sucked being right behind him and having ten cars behind me wondering why the hell I was going so slowly. Bah. No passing on that hill, either... and he ran a stop sign at the top of the hill, too.

Yeah... that's my snow rant... if I could erase the bad drivers (or just buy everyone a Subaru) I would. But I can't. ^-^;

I don't think one FWD system can be better than another, unless there are Diff options (various LSD's and such).

I found myself stopping on inclines, just to wait for Mr. Macho in the Mustang to try and wiggle his way up the hill. It was hilarious. I saw a mustang almost crash into a school bus, going about 2mph. I was giggling to my friend, and some guy in a probe cranked the wheel out of his driveway and floored it. Got some snow on the winshield and hood of my car. His friends were standing by their jeep in the driveway, and they pointed and laughed. So, I started slowly rolling in 1st, and right before getting to them, I FLOORED IT, kicked the whole car sideways and PLASTERED their Jeep (and probably them) with snow. My friend said they were just stupified, with a look of "what the fuck just happened" across their faces.

I'm thinking the Caddy has some pretty shitty tires.

Almost no Cadillac owners ever turn a single wrench on their own car. . . let alone even pay attention to the condition of their tires.

Unless your a rapper. When your tires wear out, you buy new rims too.

We got about 3.5 inches up here so far. It was snowing steady and was very windy. It's still snowing lightly though...

 Rappers typically don't live where it snows. . . unless it's the Big Apple or the Windy City . . .

. . . but that doesn't change the fact that you're right! ;)

I don't know if it's the horrible tires, or the power, or what, but the car sticks pretty well off-boost, but once I try to get into it, it just opens up and skims on top of the snow.

We got about 4" on the roads, but you can still see the grass :(

FWD systems are definitely different. Equal length driveshafts are vastly superior. I also think the Caddy's problem though, may've been tire choice. I do the same thing with these tires. Be thankful he bleww the stop sign or maybe you'd still be behind him as he tried to move from a stop with the weight shifted back.

Ummm... boost + traction don't mix mmmkay? Boost is when all hades breaks out, Phil. Yes, before then its fine, even with my bald Re-92's.

Hehe, I can only imagine how sick it would be at 16psi. I'd be able to like launch in 5th and sit there spinning them.
