Removing Roof Rack Crossbars?

Is it even possible? It seems to me that I'd need to drop the headliner, unscrew the roof rack from the bottom, take it off, slip the crossbars out, then reinstall it?

Is there any easier way to do it? My crossbars have unweathered spots from where the feet of a snowboard rack sat the entire time the previous owner bought it, and they look lame.

You don't have to drop the headliner to remove the rack, there's covers at each end that have two bolts underneath. Even so, I dont think the crossbars come out, havent tried to take them off but they dont look like they do.

they slide, so theoretically they SHOULD come off, but you have to remove the raised rails that run lengthwise in order to get them out.

Does anyone know if this is possible. It also seems that i'm causing unneeded drag.

hmmm... that's an excellent idea, but they're still stuck in the tracks.... perhaps... i'll have to take a good look at it tonight. ;)

you got yours out without removing the front to back rails?

if that's the case, then it's possible, just may require some finessing... thanks Dave!

I'm pretty sure i just coaxed them out through the front and/or the back, after removing the rubber endcaps. I know i didn't have to remove them entirely, that's for sure.
