i dont know where else to post this but my dad has an 88' gmc 2500 and when its warm out like 60 out then it will run fine, but when its like 34 out then the rpms when at idle will go up and down, and if you put it in gear 8 out of 10 times it will die. if you give it steady gas then it will sputter and misfire like heck, i dont know whats wrong with it, the plugs are pretty old and wires but would that do it? any help is wanted, thanks

I would start by replacing the plugs and wires and go from there. Those are failry cheap and it it just good insurance.

While you are in there you might want to change out the cap and rotor. Does it have DIS??
