today is my lucky day

this day last year i passed my saftey and emmissions tests for the year. today after nearly a month of agonizing, buying a cat that i dont even need, and a 150 worth of tune up items i have now passed my tests once again.
it ran cleaner than it did last year with the exception of o2% and co at 2500 rpm.
the trick was to raise the idle to around 900 since it was down around 600 and the fuel was unburnt sending my HC's thorugh the roof.
so with a catless exhaust and a bigger turbo the sube runs clean as a whistle.

I'm glad you passed the emissions screening, but I think you should still try to figure out why your engine is misfiring at the correct idle speed.

i never said it was misfiring. just that at the low idle speeds its dumping fuel to keep it alive

Unburnt hydrocarbons don't keep an engine alive. The engine should be burning pretty much all the fuel that's injected when it's idling and not cold.

beats me, the manual says the idle speed is =-700 but suposedly at this altitude its suposed to be a little higher. either way the fix brought the HC's down form 500 to 91.

I just passed yesterday, too. Although that's not unexpected news, considering everything on my car's stock.

Yay for clean burning cars!

We go 2 years. I've got 1 year left before I go in again.

MA does the same thing - emissions every other year, safety every year. I thought they stopped emissions at 15 years, but someone told me that's no longer true. Guess I find out next year if I get one.

We don't have saftey inspections, only on purchase of a vehicle.

Safety is relative to where you go and what you drive.

Laurel, you don't have to do emissions? How come? I don't get it..

I think its related to what county youre in. Ive heard you can get a PO box in some county that doesnt require emissions, and register your car there. no idea if it actually works
Laurel, Kenmore is King county right? if so then what gives.
When I go turbo I'd like to not have any emissions
