Dyno Day...

I'm sure some of you guys are familiar with MachV Motorsports.

There was an open house/dyno day there this saturday. It was a pretty interesting time, as the dyno days there always are. An STi Forester put down the highest numbers I saw (295whp/299lb-ft). My friend Jay's car isn't running right, so it only put down 231whp and 246lb-ft :(. Once it's tuned properly, it'll be in the 300's pretty nicely.

You all remember the "most famous Subaru Shift knob" post? About the guy in PA who was sandwiched between the two semi-trucks, and all that survived was himself and the shift knob? My friend Ed won the knob, and I bought his stock shift knob (for winter duty). I now own the shift knob, of the guy who owns the most famous shift knob on the east coast. I also got a free Carbon Fiber hoodscoop. Pretty neat!

I just wanted to brag that a forester slapped silly an STi... That car is fuunnn.

There was also a JDM Galant VR-4 there. Holy cow, I've never seen a more perfect car. So sleeper, RHD, crazy power (stock he put 260 to the wheels and 290lb-ft), Twin Turbo V6, AWD, 5-speed, and RHD ;). Amazing.

I also saw a, ready?, 390whp.... S2000. That thing was intense. So fast, so cool. Sounded like a bike. He took off, and it was just wrrrrr..... then a split second and *bap**bap**bap* of the rev limiter. That thing was sex.

*speechless*

S2ks are bitching, plain and simple. I'd get one if I liked looking like a homo when any of my homies ride deuce, but alas, this homie don't play dat.
..that, and the insurance. :(
Foresters are kick-ass, I want one at some point. Perhaps it's what I'll save for, then dump it, just to look good.

that vr4 sounds like it has a swap. vr4's were built on eclipse motors to compete with the leg ss

Not for the JDM.

Why couldnt they have put out a 6 cylinder legacy with twin turbos? That musta been hot.

Because at the time there was no 6 cylinder that would have fit :) Not to mention the lack of there being any twin turbo subaru. :D

Was that S2K FI? That IS intense. I'd love a jacked Forester turbo with dual range.

dual range AWD? whoa... why not just do a RWD conversion on the transmission and weld on a divorced NP203 transfer case and some Dana axles front and rear... bad Steve, this is your fault

where the heck did he get an STi Forester? or was it a swap?

You know it....

The Forester was just a modded 04 FXT. 295whp, 299lb/ft.

Here's the first dyno chart (291hp, 295lb-ft). It makes me want to go to the bathroom. That's on a VF39, too. Much more room for potential.

And for the VR4... MMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Thats a ton of power coming out of a small engine, I dont really see it lasting long but thats impressive and damn that vr4 is a sweet ride.

He's been making that power for around 30,000 miles or so, IIRC.

With good enough tuning and care, amazing things can be done reliably.

Wow, that VR4 is amazing, I thought it was just a JDM motor swap (i.e. V7 STi) but the whole car? That is a lot of piping and turbo goodness to cram in that engine bay. The interior is nice too.

haha hell yea that sure is a tight fit. S2000 has some crazy HP. theres a turbo'ed S2000 that goes to the street tracks around here... wonder wat he's puttin down. did it say how much torque the S2000 was puttin down? probly not nearly as much HP as it has.

I caught the tail end of the convo about the S2k, and I seem to recall in the realm of 330lb-ft or so.

It was a full imported from Hiroshima J-Spec VR4. So hot.
