Might as well

Just get a new uppipe, turbo back exhaust (it's rotted out anyway) and remove all remnants of my AC system, including the condenser to make room for a planned FMIC install or for no other reason than to remove unused parts.

I found a 4 inch deep puddle of water under my multibox today. I think Majen was crying because I can't drive her for a little while. I felt bad and just figured I owe it to her to give her an upgrade, hehe.

I mean, taking into consideration that I stripped an uppipe stud, why go through the effort of trying to remove it, which would undoubtedly be difficult, when I can just get a new uppipe and, hell, if I need a new muffler AND I'm getting an uppipe I might as well just get a whole new exhaust. I don't use the AC anyway so why not rip it out AND if I'm going to rip it out why not just get an FMIC instead of a TMIC....?

Does anyone recognize this pattern of thought? :D

If you need FMIC install help, I'm your man! I've wanted to get back up to visit you guys wicked bad. I can't wait for the F&S. Hell, maybe we could do it then if you can get pipes fabbed up.

I haven't actually purchased an exhaust system yet, Phil. I'm planning on doing it soon. I'm debating what route I'm going to take with it too. I could go for a good downpipe and an adequate hi-flow catted 2.5" system from there back or actually get a turbo back system. I don't want to spend a huge gob of money on it so there may be some compromise unless I see a turbo back that's affordable yet good. The uppipe is another story. I want to get one that's quality. I'm going to investigate the FMIC but I'll be pulling the condensor either way. I stripped one of the studs on the uppipe while I was removing the turbo and I couldn't get it out with a crapsman bolt remover kit because the socket on the remover wasn't deep enough to get a good bite. It's all good though because getting a new uppipe will also give me new studs. I'm shopping around but there's so many kinds it's hard to choose. I guess it comes down to how much I wanna spend.

IF you think you are going to really make the car clean and have it a long time then I would say go with a nice 3" SS TBE that's for a wrx and have it fitted and extended to fit. This way you have a really nice system that will take whatever mods you throw at it.

If you just want to have a little bit better flowing system and not invest a lot of money then I'd say go with a HKS 3" (or some other cheaper DP) and then do a mild steel cat-back to a nice muffler. If you do do the MS cat-back here in town I was thinking about when we were talking about the size. The only bad thing about a 2.5", like we were talking about, is that nobody local does mandrel bends so it will be restrictive at the bends and a system is only as big as its most restrictive point. You might want to go larger, like 2.75" or even 3", so that even with the restrictions of the bends you end up with a nice flowing system. :)

Personally, I'd go with the Perrin up pipe. Ive probably installed 50 of em, and never had a comeback. The key to getting any up pipe to fit well though, is the order in which you tighten everything.

The Invidia DP, is probably the highest quality Ive seen. A bit more spendy, but the bellmouth is actually cast.

For an uppipe, a TurboXS uppipe is a good choice. My friend Jon will have his for sale soon, since we are installing GPMOTO headers on his car. I can tell him you are interested if you would like.

Will do. I'll actually probably see him tonight. I'll get you a price and everything.

Once your old uppipe is out, you can sell it or fix it then sell it. It's catless, which is awesome :)

unless you really DO have a stock WRX uppipe, in which case it's not worth shit.
