I just bought an HKS downpipe with what looks like a properly located O2 sensor bung, a temporary SAAB 15 channel FMIC, a boost guage and an HKS uppipe. It's not the greatest but it'll do what I need it to. :)

Congrats Scott. The Mod bug is steadily slipping it's fangs deeper and deeper into your man-flesh. Don't worry though, it won't make it any smaller. ;)

oops, that was a typo above. I got a tmic not an fmic. It came today actually  I was amazed at how fast it got here. I hope the other parts come that quickly. No pun intended.

Well, on the Saabs it was front-mounted...

That's cool that you found a downpipe that has the oxygen sensor bung in the right spot... Where'd you find it?

Welll, on the Saabs it was front mounted...
Oh, but that doesn't mean it has to be on ours.....right?

The downpipe seems to be the right kind. The bolt pattern looks good and it has the curvature that mine has.

I'm not sure you'll be able to link to that url.

Right. I was just trying to make it sound like you said FMIC on purpose. ;)

Huh. That pipe does seem to have the oxygen sensor bung in the right place. It'd be extra cool if it was also the right length.

Oh, sorry, I'm a little jumpy because this is the first time I bought from ebay. I thought it looked a little short too. The diameter is 75 mm so that's pretty much a 3" and they claim it's mandrel bent too.

It's probably the length of the wrx downpipe plus third cat

Plus third cat? Does that mean it's short or prolly about right?

Hardy - But if it really was meant for new-style WRXes, wouldn't it have the oxygen sensor bung at the tail end, if it had it at all?

Scott - If Hardy's right it'd be a tiny bit too long, I think.

Very true, I dunno though, it just looks to me like that'd be the lenght it would be.

well, actually, since this wouldn't give the right readings anyway since there's no cat wouldn't they expect the person to either not car about where the o2 sensor is or install one of those CEL elimator things?

It doesn't really matter how long the DP is because Scott is going to have a custom CBE built behind it. The most important thing is that the bung is in the proper location so he doesn't have to extend the O2 sensor wiring and that it clears his 4eat.

Hardy - Yeah, you'd think they'd use logic like that... but almost all catless WRX downpipes have a bung down there. Just like how so many catless WRX uppipes still have the bung for the stock EGT probe.

Matt - Oh, I didn't realize he was doing a custom exhaust. Still, it'd be cool if it didn't require a custom exhaust.

windchaser doesnt post here much but he bought one of the dp's listed on ebay as "a few inches short for wrx's" they sell them cheap because of it. he said his bolted up perfect no problems at all. he said that the pipes were close enough together that when he put the bolts in it pulled them together and sealed properly.

also my ssautochrome had a correct placement o2 bung and was modded verry easily to fit. only a 6 inch extention

I've waited patiently for this moment. If it doesn't fit I'll simply have to drive my car off a cliff, no big deal.

I got the intercooler yesterday. It's in good shape and the guy even took the time to clean it up for me. The seller was Eastofsweden if anyone is looking for a reputable seller.

I got all my stuff together and I'm ready for install. I got the downpipe and the uppipe today. I got the intercooler last week as well as the boost gauge and silicone reducer. Everything looks up to snuff, just got to get the exhaust in, the ic in, gauge installed and I have to address my wheel bearings. They are getting pretty darn loud.
