My estimate

A local exhaust shop is asking 529.00 to install my dp, up and cat back. I was thinking it would be slightly less, not much but a little. I'll probably be installing my uppipe to save some cash. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

Is that a typo? Does it really say 529$? To install an exhaust system, thats just crazy.

should be pretty easy, but use a 6 pt impact socket on the bolts because they are likely to be seized up on the exhaust and if your not careful its real easy to round the bolts. I must stress not to round the bolts because then its a real pain in the butt to get them off as they are estremely hard and made to resist heat pretty well.

I used a giant torque wrench set to its highest setting with the impact sockets but you could use a breaker bar.

I cut my stock exhaust off. I had absolutely no use for it any longer. None of my bolts came unbolted without crumbling.

Do NOT pay 530 bucks to have someone install your exhaust. If you do the uppipe yourself, you pretty much have to take off the rest of the exhaust to do it.

That price includes buyinng a tailpipe, midpipe, cat, and resonator. Still too much?

Still to much.

First of all, depending on your downpipe, it should bolt to your stock midpipe. Vikash's did.

So you can take your time, find a cheap WRX midpipe and axleback and modify it to fit later.

FWIW, $500 was the price I was quoted to build me a custom turboback exhaust, including downpipe. Not the highest quality, but for price reference.

What uppipe are you using?

A shop built an entire system for $140 for me about a year ago. 500 is what I would pay for a name brand 3" system.

The uppipe is an HKS, flex style T304, polished stainless steel.

I was unaware that HKS made a flex uppipe. Did you get it on E-bay?

Yep, I got it on ebay. It was $80.

It might be a Tsudo "HKS STYLE" uppipe.

HKS doesn't make a flex uppipe.

I wouldn't worry about it though, my friend has one and it looks pretty legit. It uses a really nice flex-joint from a reputable flex joint company.

Maybe so, I'm not worried. I just want to get this puppy in. Do I have to take the turbo out to install it or can I remove the old one and just slide it into place? Probably not, but I'm curious if it's possible, like if anyone has done it that way.

nah, you gotta pull the turbo. It's easy enough though, so you can do it no problem, and then you can easily change the rest of the exhaust yourself.

Yeah, I'm probably gonna bung the dp, install both it and the uppipe and then take it to a shop and see how the price goes down for the rest of the install. I don't know if I can do the hangers.
