She runs on chipped ECU...

A few months ago I posted a thread about chipping the factory ECU. At the time my car had an electrical problem and I was not able to start it.
Finally I decided to pick a day and call it "already booked". I added some fuel as I'm sure the stuff in the tank was stale. Changed the plugs and tried to start the car.
I'm not sure why but it would start for less than a second. I could clearly hear the pump start to prime it but I'm not sure if it was continuing to run. In any event I fiddled with some of the switches a previous owner installed for checking codes on the ECU and suddenly she started. Took it for a quick burn around the block and tried restarting a few times.
Whichever odd gremlin was hiding in there has gone to sleep again. So I pulled out my ROM emulator and she also runs with that installed. The day will be over soon but before it is I'm going to try changing a byte in what I believe to be the fuel map. This will show me if the ECU has a checksum routine or not... From there I'll disassemble the code and start working out how the fuel and ignition maps work. It's usually tougher to find but I'm also going to look for the rev limit byte.
Next up, I'll see if I can find a VF10 or an old STi V2 turbo. Oh wait! I have to do the clutch first
