High mileage rebuild?

My brother owns a 1991 legacy turbo sedan and it has nearly 300k miles on it (about 290k i think) and he wants to swap to a ej20g instead of rebuilding the stock engine (which I think is very stupid) but anyways I was wondering what and how about the car would need a rebuild at 300k.
I know I am being very vague, but any informations would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

From what I found from taking apart mine at 126k. It was in decent shape, but if you're going to take it apart and rebuild it, you're going to need to replace crank & rod bearings, and probably should replace the pistons & rings as well. That's saying that everything is in spec as well.

Same comment as Scott. I'm rebuilding/restoring the whole suspension and shoring up the bodyshell while getting the turbo stuff done and I only have 262k. She's not as quiet or stiff as she used to be.
