I've heard from several sources now that the main bearings in the 90-91 Legacy MT's are crap, destined to fail at an estimated 120k miles...
Anyone else heard this? Any details, was it a TSB or anything like that? My Legacy has 124k miles on it now

Josh, it's the
tranny main bearings that I'm referring to, hence posting this in the Drivetrain forum

...
I think someone over on the USMB made mention of it, as well as some other source.
I have absolutely no internal engine problems, nor tranny problems, I was just a little concerned about hearing this...

Hmmm

. Sounds like you'd better get a 92-94 Sport Sedan quick! And they even look better to boot!

When I picked up my 90 Wagon it had about 170K on it and the guy knew it needed a clutch, so I gave him $200 for it and dropped in a clutch. When I had the tranny out I noticed that the main shaft moved up-down, side t o side alot, when I put it back together I found out that it popped out of 5th gear. I drove it for a month like this befor the tranny finnally made really bad noises and lost 1st, 3rd, and 5th gear. I took it apart to find out it had a trashed main bearing. Moral of the story is: If it starts popping out of 5th your probly losing the main bearing.
