coolant leaking please help

hello,

Try to make this short. I have a 93 turbo 150K car has been great, running very strong, no major problems.

Today on the way from work I notice my temp gauge nearly pegged as im at a light. I start driving and am about to pull over to check it out, gauge drops real fast back to normal. so i keep driving. rest of the way home gauge slowly moves up and down a bit, mainly staying around half between normal and max. turning a/c off seemed to help but not sure as the guage was moving so much.

as i got home i looked under the hood and the overflow tank for coolant was empty. No noticalbe signs of coolant visible anywhere from under the hood.

looked under the car and coolant was dripping fairly fast from center of engine (by oil pan and crossmember?) i shut the car off and the coolant slowed a bit, eventually stopping.

I now have no coolant in my tank, I have checked my oil for any signs, oil looks good. I am unable to get under the car to have a better look but any ideas would help. unfortunately i am machanically inclined and will be taking to the shop for repair.

but any help would be appreciated,

thanks,
eric

ps i tried searching already

I'd guess headgaskets. Or a HUGE air bubble

I highly doubt a head gasket problem if it was then the reservor would be overflowing. The leak maybe right underneath the intake manifold. There is a 90 degree coolant hose there that maybe ruptured. The engine temp going up and down was probably just air pockets as your thermostat open and closed. Doesn't sound serious but definitly need to get it fixed. And also add coolant to the system and if it starts to over heat on the way to the shop just turn the heater on high it will pull heat off the engine.

Your leak probably isnt under the car but under the intake manifold, it just runs out under the engine.

I just recently had that problem and then when i tried turnin it bak on it blew a head gasket or was already blown then all i did was get a hea gasket kit and replaced it , it wouldve ran perfect , but then a head bolt got logged into the engine and now i have 2 find a way to get it out. But yea i would suggest lookin at the head gaskets and c if one of them is blown.
