leaky trans

I have a lot of grease & gunk build up along the left side & rear of the transmission pan. ('94 legacy turbo wagon, AWD,auto). I'm assuming it's the pan gasket. The gunk extends up above the pan-housing seam 2-3 inches & below onto the pan. Is there anything else in this vicinity higher up that could cause the leak & this pattern? Just degreased it as best I could to look for any fresh evidence. Any experience/advice appreciated.
