What should I do?

Okay, for those of you that don't know, my car was hit while parked on my property in the right rear quarter panel/trunk area. Since I'm in Iraq, I can't tell how bad it is but I was told it's pretty bad by a friend. Given the age of the car and the fact I just finished working on it before I left, I'm wondering if I should even bother fixing it or should I just get something else. I really like my car but I'm getting tired of it and the whole car needs some body work and a repaint. I have a $500 deductible with my insurance company so that's the minumum I'll have to shell out. I'm not sure if they pay for getting all the dents taken out and a new paint job. What do you guys think I should do?

the insurance company will probably total it, and give you fair value minus 500

you might inquire as to whether this will affect your rates

and when you must file a claim, although you would think you'd be granted a lot of lattitude being in Iraq

I agree with professor. Let them total it and then buy it back. You could actually get something out of the deal! Then just deal with the repairs when you get back from Iraq and get some more money :)
