Blue SVX police chase

Anyone else in the NW see the SVX being chased by the cops?
It happened all over the Eastside (Kirkland, Bothell, Juanita, etc.). It was on a couple channels.
He managed to escape police for about 25 minutes. Even busted through a fence and rallied through a golf course at one point.
Ended when he was surrounded and gave up.

Sorry, but I have no way to get video of it.

AWDriving thru a golf corse has to feel good. I wonder if he yelled "FLAT FORE" while destroying the greens. :D

Monster garage should have used a Subaru instead of a Porsche for that golf ball collector.

That was hilarious! I wonder why the cops couldn't catch up to him for so long? I guess front wheel drive and sloppy handling don't do well at high speed chases that get taken onto golf courses....

1) I feel bad coz I was kinda rootin' for him the whole time.

2) I need to move to the PNW. I saw like 50 other Soobs in that vid :(

I would love to see a new subaru commericial based on that.

Nice shiny SVX though. Why do they call it sideswiping, when it's not?

The top speeds of the chopper and the SVX are within about 10 mph.
It would have been interesting to see them both flat out.

What is the helicopter's top speed?

probably a jet ranger or something so you could estimate around 213 km/h, so around 120mph

I doubt a news pilot would push it.

SVX is teh win!

Bell 409 max speed is 133 knots, so about 153 mph.
That's not cruise, so I doubt it could maintain it.

I was rooting for the car, not the guy driving it!!! Glad to see that it wasn't totaled and of course that nobody seemed to get hurt. Did you see the two red Outbacks, couple of other subies in there too. Started me thinking that I should look at picking up an svx!

I'm glad I wasn't driving a subaru down the highway when the chase took place. I would probably try to race him.

Wouldn't that be funny as hell!! All these Subarus giving chase. LOL!!

On another note I now know why you always see people getting blow-outs and flat tires on all those police chase videos on TV. It's because they are driving on the shoulder of the road! We all know how much crap is on the shoulder! Tires, pipes, chunks of godonlyknowswhat!

Our roommate watched that go down. He was sitting in his office, and saw all these helicopters, so he called Art and asked him to put on the news. About 5 seconds later, a blue svx flew by, followed closely by several police cars. We watched it on the news yesterday night.

I saw it on Fox news last night. It's a shame becasue that SVX looked like it was in very good condition. It held up to smashing cars and fences damn well too. A testimate to Subaru build quality.

does anyone else find it kinda funny that he broke into one of the more difficult to steal subarus(what with the framed windows and whatnot) and was still out of there in under a minute?

haha, I think they mentioned Kenmore in the chase Laurel, I think it's sad that the car looked amazing, it looked all shiny and stuff and when he 'sideswiped' people the car held up so well. Even when the jackass (rooting for the car here) in the Suburban smashed the SVX it was like, "yeah I'm a Subaru, what up?" and drove away.

Damn, did he stop and ask that guy for directions? That reminded me of the original grand theft auto.

As for seeing him and trying to race him, there is an episode of real tv where a cop is chasing some car and some guy in a porsche just hauls ass past both of them.
