Well, my parents just gave me my birthday present.

A 1998 Forester S. Green, leather, 5-speed, Phase1 EJ25 (with new headgaskets).

It's pretty cool. Good gas mileage and I can raceify the Legacy :). Plus, I won't need to use premium anymore :).

I'll get pics of it as soon as I pick it up (maybe tomorrow).

Damn! I had a '98 Forester S. It was pretty nice. You're stoked. I wish somebody would buy me a car.

My mom has a 99 S and she loves it. You're looking at about 20MPG around town.

What is THAT supposed to mean? I KNOW you didn't mean to imply that I'm a snotty little kid who gets everything from mommy and daddy, and doesn't appreciate the value of a dollar, or the work it takes to make that dollar. Because if you DID imply that, you'd be SORELY mistaken. So please, enlighten me about your comment.

Thanks to everyone else though. I was pretty surprised. I had intended to pay for my daily driver, when my parents said "Happy Birthday" so it was kinda cool.

I am really looking forward to the good gas mileage, and more room.

I'll get pics, but I'm lazy and.. well, just lazy.

nah, he's just driving a MKIII right now and doesn't have access to Subarus, he's not implying anything like that...

*I don't think*

Show us pictures sometime soon 8)

Yeah..what Mark said.

It's cool though because if everything goes as planned I will be sporting a sweet RHD legacy wagon real soon.

Sweet. You'd like it even better if it was the Phase II, but hey...

You'd probably get even better mileage with an intake, headers, and exhaust on it, but that'd take away from your Legacy money. I get 25mpg with everything I've put on mine, and they're probably comprable in weight.

Right on Phil! That kinda solves all of your issues/dilemas/decisions right there. Congrats.
Gotta love it when parents surprise you with something completely unexpected and needed. You are such a snotty spoiled brat! Got loving parents and all. Jeez! ;)

Right on, bro. Now ya gotcha a forestmobile.

It must be nice...TO NOT HAVE TO BUY PREMUIM, lol.

Hell, I don't buy premium anyway. I put 87 in my beasts and they run but I put in a half tank of premium first.

If you were here I'd buy a shot and a couple beers.

Hehe, Phil is really lucky, his parents are really cool. I mean, how many parents would be ok with some 30 year old guy coming over and helping their 18 year old son (at the time) install performance upgrades on his car (Saab 900, mbc and fcd) to make it faster and then buy him dinner for his troubles! Not many I know. 8)

My old S was a 4eat cause it was the wifes daily, I bet the 5mt is nice.

To alter my first post, I want to change it to "hell, I just wish someone would buy my Tahoe!"

Why is that? I'm not to worried about the Phase1-ness. Yea, they have head gasket issues, but I'm not overly worried. If it happens, I'll replace them, and keep on going. Or is there other stuff too?

I definately don't regret getting it, though people seem to scour at the Forester idea. I'll drive it until it's dead, then fix it, and drive it more.

The reason I got another Subaru, is so I could do most of the work myself.

Jared - Yea, they are really cool parents. They support my addiction to speed better than parents should. They helped me with this so I wouldn't have to sell the 94, and are allowing me to store 4 vehicles at the house without many complaints.

I haven't been able to get the thing inspected and registered yet, but goddamn am I excited. Just driving it around the neighborhood, I love it already. Steering is light and fun, and I feel like it's going to be perfect in the snow and rain and all that shit. No sunroof to leak, like the Legacy does, and heated seats (which I need to fix) to keep my ass from freezing in the snow.

PLUS, the previous owner has given me a BUNCH of stuff with it. Including a set of Hella-500's, an Alpine head unit, and a bigass box (which fits nicely behind the rear seats), of other stuff. Plus, free brackets for a bike rack on the roof and stuff like that.

I am stoked!

Matt - You know your always welcome at my house :). My parents often ask how your doing, lol.

Oh, I hope you didn't read me wrong. I don't see anything wrong with foresters.
