VF24 on Legacy Turbo runs!

I broke my 3rd gear. When I removed the tranny I decided to stick my old STi V4 turbo on. The car already had an FMIC so I just clocked the turbo 180 degrees and hooked it up with a 90 degree elbow. I purchased a Vibrant 2 1/4 elbow and cut it up really short for the air intake. It was surprisingly easy but I still need to hook up the wastegate.
I've put my new Bully stage 2 clutch in. As always the pedal feel is amazing - feels almost stock but grips just a tad more. Good for 300hp. After the clutch is broken in (very important with a kevlar facing) I will drill and connect the wastegate to see how it feels.

I'm having boost problems but still wanted to give my first impressions...
The VF24 seems to be a tad on the small side. It gives nice useable power. On the EJ20K it would hit 10PSI at about 3100 RPM. On the EJ22 it gets to about 10 PSI at 2700 RPM.
The turbo has no problems making 10 PSI at redline so it's still well in it's efficiency range. I have to verify the AFRs to know if it's running lean or not but it pulls pretty well during short spurts.

That turbo should be able to hold 17psi at 7000rpm...

I think it may. On my STi it would fall to about 15 by that RPM but I guess the EJ20K heads would be flowing a lot more air at that point since it made peak torque at 6800..

Interesting stuff on the VF24. The stock turbo on my wgn runs out of poop at 12 pounds, and needs something bigger.
MRT notes that the 24 is suitable for the 4eat. Perhaps this would work
well with the built-up tranny

Correction - was watching closer today. Hits 10 PSI by 2500 RPM. Gotta do some engine management soon...

Yeah,
The turbo is supposed to fully spool by 2900 rpm, so I would expect something around 10 psi 500 rpm lower...

Naw, if I wanted I could hit 15 PSI by 2500 RPM. Probably earlier if I did it in 5th but since I have a stock ECU in this thing I'm not going to try to blow the engine...
I have a big 20G that was made for my GT-R. I'll see if I can stuff that into some subaru housing. Once engine management is in I should be able to spool that up at the right place.
