Hello Everybody. I am doing some research on the older turbo Legacy's 5spd trans and was wondering if anyone has pictures of one. They can be an underneath shot of it on your car or more preferably a couple pictures of it taken out of your car showing all angles.
I know its asking a lot but hopefully somebody has a few shots.

Future plans for my impreza project require a 5spd trans swap. I'm trying to determine by comparison if the 5spd turbo trans from the Legacy is the same that can be found in the newer GC8 RS or the WRX.
If the case is the same then I plan to locate a trans from a newer impreza since they aren't as rare and save for a trans brace. However I have heard rumors that the Legacy Turbo 5spd is beefed.
If you could a close up of all 6 sides of the trans would be great.
Your extra trans wouldn't happen to be in good condition and possibly for sale would it?
Really appreciate you help on this.
Thanks
Brad

If you search the posts a little you'll find that the legacy turbo trns is indeed a bit stronger thatn the than most other usdm 5spds.

JasonGrahn - How much are you asking for it and why do you feel it needs a rebuild? Syncros dead?
mk750 - I have searched and found no solid evidence. Only rumors and heresay. Thats why I plan to do a side by side picture comparison to look at the design and layout of the case itself as that is where the true problem arises with newer model subaru manuel transes. I also have a friend that is a subaru mechanic and has access to the shop manuels on the older and new SOA products. I may pick his brain and see if I can sneak access to those manuels.

i only want 400 for the tranny, dunno how much a rebuilt will cost. If you're SERIOUSLY interested, i'll check.
As for why to rebuild, the tranny is from a '91 turbo. Yes, Synchros are a bit worn. A rebuild would put in the updated synchros subaru uses for their rebuilds now. Bottom line is: It's better to get it done now while it's out of the car then get it done later.

Apologies all, digital camera has been requested back to the owner before i had the opportunity to take the shots. I'll try again next time i have the chance.
