has anybody ever put an svx 3.3 into a legacy? my friend has an svx and a spare motor and if it isnt too difficult i would be very interested in doing it, if i did i would swap in the seats too.

The EG33 is about 4 1/2" longer than the EJ22. If you can find room for the radiator, why not?

why not do it on an NA legacy though? Might as well leave the SS alone

You don't want to defile a perfectly good NA legacy with a swap. Best to do it to the SS.

This swap has been done before. The mounts will work, but your front will need to be fabbed so that the radiator fits. I would recommend that you put in a WRX 5MT to fit with the SVX motor, as it will eat a NA Legacy Tranny alive.

The WRX Tranny ain't anything to write home about either, it's a P.O.S !

i have the sport sedan and a 3.3 lined up, if all i need is some fab work for the radiator this is looking like a better idea every day, what would it take to adapt my turbo gear to it?

Wouldn't you also need the SVX ECU as it's a 6 cylinder?

It fits, but your weight distribution goes to hell, you might end up with a understeer king.

You'd add about 130 lbs plus whatever fabbing adds. Of course, you probably wouldn't have room for an A/C condensor, so you could get some back by removing the A/C system. I may have to keep this idea in mind.

Start with a wagon as a base and your weight distribution won't be as front biased. Unfortunately, a lot of that weight is ahead of the front wheels.

Wouldn't you need the whole harness?

I'm looking at my bare 90 Legacy parts car(no motor, rad, condensor) and it looks like it is going to take quite a nose job to get a radiator in there. Even one that's probably too small. Probably need a complimentary method of cooling as well.

I believe scottzg told me that the EG33 weighs something like 15lbs more than the EJ22 or something ridiculous like that...
I'd love to do such a swap, but it would be quite difficult. Wiring, to say the least, and then the obvious mods that might be necessary to the engine bay.

you should sell it and try and find a EZ30.
it was designed to fit in the same space as an EJ22/25.

According to Kennedy Engineering:
EG33 = 387lbs
EJ22 = 260lbs
I'm not sure what all's included in those weights, but they should have the same components for comparison purposes. They do however list the EJ18, EJ20, EJ22 and EJ25 as the same weight.

ej18 > ej22. before i had the ej22 sitting inside the car drewdogg and i carried it back and forth 10+ times with no problem. the ej18 i have in storage took 3 of us to just get it onto a piece of carpet to grunt and shove into the unit.

advantages:
EG33 > EZ30: EG33 doesn't leak as much oil, torque monster
EZ30 > EG33: EZ30 has more up to date parts, fits better, and the newer ones have AVCS and 250hp

If these dudes can do it to a GC, it can be done to a BC.

that's so awesome
for weight change, I'd take the a/c compressor out and move the battery to the trunk, maybe do some other lightening in the front end, and it would probably fairly close to normal weight distribution again...

notice in one of the pics, when it's going around the right hand turn...the rear right tire is off the road...looks like a dog taking a leak.
a svx motor in a BC would be sweet

All AWD cars do that in corners. Even the new WRX's.
