hay all!! i really need some help here. i live in new zealand and have recently purchased a fcd with the hopes of uppin the boost. i wired the fcd into the ecu usin a wire diagram of the net (should have read that it was us market only).
got the fcd in and started it up and it ran like shit and threw a check light. i checked the error code and it come up with 23. this is aprently sumthin to with the air flow meter, so i i took out the fcd and re solderd all the wires back together matchin perfectly colour to colour.
i reset the ecu and now no more check light but the car still runs the same.
it has a terrible idile and runs really loud. not over idling, just at about 500 rpm, but very erratic.
exaust temprarure also seems to be quite high when running.

so wat do yous think this could be.....air flow metre, ecu?

i live in a very underprivaleged town when it comes to electritions and electronics.

PLEASE HELP!!!! :(

you could have damaged either the air flow sensor or the ecu. that could explain why you put everything back together correctly and it still didn't work right. try to get another air flow sensor since that would be the cheapest thing to check first. if it still runs like ass you probably messed up the ecu.

p.s. I think this post belongs in the electrical forum

Does this FCD operate on the MAF wires or on the pressure sensor wires?
Does it have an adjustable dial on the front of it?

im pretty sure it suppose to be pressure sensor wires, but like i said i used the pinout diagram for the us market bc rs.
if anybody had a pin out diagram for the new zealand market rs i would be very greatful.
also from a bit of research last night have found out that fault code 23 could also mean pressure sensor as well.
is this true?
am gettin 3 new parts today, maf sensor, pressure sensor and another ecu.

fingers crossed for me

Moved this for you.

Super high EGT's can mean super lean running conditions.

You need a scanner, so you can read what the ECU sees as MAF voltage. That will give you a hint of whether or not the car is actually fueling for the air coming in.

If the MAF checks out OK, check other things like Injector Pulse width, and shit like that. Just make sure everything is in spec.

If nothing is out of spec, check the other things related to fuel.

ok its been a while since i last posted and my car is still havin trouble.

my freind works at an auto electrition in nelson city and we pluged my rs into there diagnostics computer and got the following information.

the new air flow meter i bought turns out to be faulty so that was a bummer and a waste of money. all the sensor voltages and signals are fine theres nothing off about any of them. the sensors look like they had been replaced recently by the last owner and old air flow sensor had been rebuilt so the problem wasnt there.

injector pulse, cranck angle sensor etc.... everythin is fine!!

i am fully lost aobut wat it could be.

when trying to hold the throttle under about 3500rpm its real jumpy and erratic.

anbody have anythoughts on wat my problem is???

thnx
