OMG, could anything else possibly go wrong!?

So last night I go to back up into my driveway to unload my new tranny and it's a bit icy out back, so I have to roll the Tahoe forward just a bit to engage the 4 wheel drive. Put it back in reverse to back up my drive and what do you know, no power steering! Just like that, no warning or nothing. I didn't even have the wheel turned!

I had to replace the PS pump last winter on this damn thing and now it fried another one. WTF!? This really pisses me off. I only had the one good car, now it's completely not driveable for my wife, I can just barely turn the damn thing myself and I don't like having my kids ride in it at all.

I'm completely over extended financialy as is and I do not have the money to fix this. My wife and I both work full time and both have to commute to get to work. Her about 40 miles each way and me about 10. It's been very trying to say the least, with just the one car.

I can't take this shit anymore. Everytime I take a step forward I get knocked 3 steps back. I hate to post another "hey everyone, feel sorry for me" thread but damn, I'm really at my wits end.

Merry fucking Christmas.

I just lost the power steering pump in my wifes Suburban, I did a little half donut in the snowy driveway to turn it around and poof... no PS, apparently is not an uncommon problem with the GM trucks. Like you I'm real tight on monet right now, probably wont be able to fix it tell after new years... Thank goodness I've got a spare Subaru to put her in, she drivin my '87 RX for now. :-D

But I know how ya feel, lately seem as though things are piling on, just gotta keep pushin forward I guess.

Maybe you guys could get a heavy duty unit from the off-road shops. I know you guys are strapped for cash as we all are this holiday season. But after the chaois lets up then you might want to invest in something hardcore that can take some abuse but is still good enough for a DD.

Hope this help. Keep your chin up guys...just when you think you have hit the bottom..you get back up to face another day.

The Desert Rose band wrote a song about such predicaments.

Sounds petty, but I'm ready to set fire to the Mazda ... it more and more frequently beeps the door ajar at me even when the key is out of the ignition and then won't let me use the remote to lock/unlock it. I'm just waiting for it to not start or let me in or something. It must have something to do with the alarm system. I fucking hate alarms! They serve for no purpose but to annoy the owner. If they can't fix the problem Saturday morning (just what I want to do on Christmas Eve) I want them to rip the alarm the fuck out. Stupid key has a microchip in it too so I wonder if that will be a problem. What ever happened to a fucking piece of brass with some notches cut out? And those cunts sent my motor mounts to some other address so I can't even try to get the wagon back on the road!

And how many electrical issues have I had with the wagon? Other than 2 sensors (temp and knock), the long-lived lights, alternator at 1/4 million miles, and the pass door actuator - nothing. And nothing but a couple bulbs before 200k - not even the battery. Makes me question everything about this Mazda. Oh, yeah 33% Ford owned ...

Will teach me to buy anything but Subaru.

Damnit dude! That blows! I wonder what she'd fetch on e-bay? Maybe you could get your self out of it?

The pump just failed? Did where you got it from have any kind of warranty on it?

I just don't like American-made stuff. Period.

Yes, I know both my Legacies were made in Indiana and I'm not happy about that either. My XT was made in Japan, and although it's the oldest, it's had the least problems so far (although I've also put the least miles on it too.)

I 100% agree with the alarm thing Steve. Completely. No one pays attention to them, unless they've been going off for 10 minutes and that's just coz they're getting annoying. And which cars usually have alarms? Some old-ass car that no one wants. For example, the battery died in one of our T100's at work last week. I put a new battery in it, and then remembered the truck had an alarm. I 1) didn't have the keyfob to turn it off, 2) set it off everytime I opened the driver's door, and 3) couldn't start the fucking thing because it had starter kill. And this is on a 1996 T100 with 213k miles on it. Thanks, but no thanks.

Sorry to hear it Matt. Maybe you can get a cheap used one?

Well, the pump ended up being under warranty so I didn't have to pay for the part at least, just labor. Had an alignment done, still need to get new tires.

Mark- Nope, Subarina is still chillin' out back on jack stands. She can't cause much trouble like that. :)

Phil- Yes, it just failed. Turned out the shaft broke, which is what happened to the last one too.

It was under warranty but I didn't think it was going to be. Thanks for small favors. whew.

Steve- Not sure, I think it may only aplly to new cars, I bought this used.

Michael- Thanks, the warranty saved my arse this time. :-D

That sucks, man... I'm glad the warranty covered at least the part.

The shaft broke? Twice?!

Yeah, twice! Isn't that a joke?

Yeah, only the General...

Is the new pump warrantied for another full term, or just for the remainder of the first warranty?

I find myself on the broke bandwagon.

I went to wal-mart to have my tires rotated and they tell me my drivers side front wheel is held on with 3 lugnuts. Two are stripped and one is broke in half! AAHHH!! Needless to say I didn't get the tires rotated.

I get home and notice my car is leaking coolant somewhere that appears to be in the middle of the oilpan. Freaky! I inspect it a little more and it appears to be coming off the dipstick tub or somewhere in the vecinity. What the hell!!

Went back to wally world and picked up some stop leak to use untill I can get the chedda to do a new waterpump, oil pump seals, timing belt and mics....but on a good note I notice my radiator is brand new and so are my CV axles. I also hooked my speedo back up and painted the guage bulbs blue. Got the DVC JBL's installed too.
