I have a '92 Legacy AWD Turbo 5sp and want to read some engine data off of the internal computer while driving. Specifically want boost pressure, but would like more info for any future issues.

Runs good and power is good, but fuel economy seems poor. Lucky to get 20mpg, sometimes only 15mpg - consistently running Sunoco 94, new air filter, plugs, wires, cleaned intake... Also - only 48,800 miles on engine. Even on interstate, only 20mpg, but power is excellent - pulls steep hills in top gear at 75mph with NO problems. Hoping boost pressure might give me insight to change driving habits for long trips to save fuel (about $2.58/gal here).

Bottom-line, I am very curious about boost pressure and other engine parameters, but checked on gauges etc and don't want to spend all that money and time if a laptop and cable can get me what info I need.

Just tried out the cable and software tonight. Works GREAT.

It appears that I'm only getting 6.5psi boost MAX - seems VERY low. Also appears that my boost control duty cycle is stuck at about 1.65 (by my memory) and I would think that it should be a changing number. All other data seemed normal as I don't have any history built up yet.

Any thoughts on max 6.5 PSI boost on a lecacy turbo with less than 50K miles on it?

Anybody played with the Boost Control Duty Cycle before?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks very much for your reply to my post. :-D

The boost soleniod has been known to go out based on age, not miles. 6.5PSI is what the wastegate spring will open at, mechanically, without any vacuum control. Consider a manual boost controller as a remedy for the failed stock unit's control.
