Ok, So i read this post

about leaky sunroofs. Got the whole thing off, the "SEAL" that the factory used was like sand. Cleared all that crap out and siliconed it...now it works great no leaking.

The problem is the sunroof is slow and stops.....like its groaning to open and close and at some points you have to help it.

I put the shims back where they should go.

Am i missing something?? I didnt see a good way to adjust it...do i need to grease it?

Yes you should probably try to greese it. I had a leaky sunroof today after it poored 1/2 a cup of water on my head over a 15 second period I went to the store bought some black silicone caulking and lightly applied it to the seam. I know I know terrible way but I can't fix it right now. Are you 100% sure that that solved the leaking problem?

Hey got it to close. I greased the snakey spring looking things up and the tracks. Also i noticed it was off a few teeth at the motor as when i took the window off, the brackets were moving at diffrent spots. That all fixed it.

As for the leaks it is now bone dry. I have heard of several people who seal it still in the car. That has varying degrees of sucess. obviously in your case it didnt. Here is what i would do

1. Take the roof off from the inside by taking the trim pieces of the pillars etc

2. You will then have access to the drains, by what you said it sounds like there is ALOT of water pooling up and it shouldnt. There are drains at each corner of the sunroof pan. Youll need to make sure they are all clear and not clogged.

3. If they are clear then take the whole sunroof unit down (Take the glass out first) Then proceed to free the rails from the pan. Youll probabally find what i did, a sand like substance that has no water proof abilities at all.

4. Clean the underside of the rails and reseal with silicone under and on the sides of the rails. More is better. Grease it up and put it back on.....

and it's not raining right now. :squint:

well without the mistakes and being anal about it...it would have taken me about 8 hours......i know its long but to not be wet everytime i get in the car is worth it
