Beware - That PDF is not complete - far from it. Lots of missing pages. It's missing 54 pages of electrical schematics. Also, there are page breaks and bad scans that keep you from discerning where electrical connectors are. It's better than nothing - it does have a some of the essentials.

Anyone who works on these cars regularly - especially electrical - should just grab an FSM for their model year. You have no idea, it was like friggen heaven when I stopped using that PDF. When I started working with the FSM, I suddenly realized how much time I wasted running in circles with that PDF.

Can you give me specifics on what's missing?

While I didn't put it together, I could try and make it complete if you can give specific examples.

Irregardless though, I whole heartedly agree with Sam. Buy a set of factory manuals. You won't regret it. I've got sets for everything but the 91 MY ;)

Ebay is a good place to keep an eye out for them, and you should be able to get them from subaru too.

I can try. I couldn't give you a comprehensive list unless I sat down at home with my FSM and flipped through both.

But here's what jumps out at me:
* The scan only has sections 2 and 6 (engine and electrical). I know that's all it promised to be, but hey - it's a good reason to buy the full FSM instead.
* The engine section is missing sections 2-9, 2-10, and 2-11 (exhaust, clutch, engine and tranny mounts)
* In the electrical section, the table of contents is missing, so I can't tell whether any complete sections are missing

Here's what really kicked my butt:
* Electrical Section 6-2 is missing pages 1 to 12
* Electrical Section 6-3 is missing pages 47 to 98 (which is roughly half of the electrical schematics - granted it's the less important half. It's also missing about half of the "Electrical Unit Location" diagrams.)
* Whatever you are looking for is guaranteed to be obscured or confused by the page breaks (Murphy's law). The ones that really get killed by the page breaks are the electrical component locations and the schematics that span multiple pages (like the MPFI schematics).

Sorry for being so negative. Somebody put a lot of work into that thing and it's awesome for people who are in a pinch and don't have the FSM. I am just trying to help people know that they should shell out for the real thing.

Anyone know where to source the full set of hardcopies for the BC Legacy manuals?

Edit: Specifically any online stores that sell them, instead of sitting around searching EBay forever, or getting them from the local rip-off dealer.

You have to scroll to the one that says 1990-2000, then pick your year from the drop down.

For only $140 NEW, I'm surprised so few people have it. Yeah, I know that $140 aint chump change... but we've ALL spent a lot more money on a lot stupider stuff for our cars so there is no excuse.

I pay $140 for a textbook some semesters that I hardly even crack. THIS.... is the bible.

If everybody who purchased a lighweight pulley or short shifter kit spent the same money on an FSM instead, think of what a better world this would be??? 90% of the questions on the board would be already answered.
