I'm looking to buy a second car to turn into a show car to show off audio/video goodies as well as some custom fiberglass work. Ideally, I'd want to buy something that looks practically brand new, looks good, and has aftermarket support. I found a white 1999 Ford Mustang (Yes, I like Fords) with 92,000 miles with a v6/auto for about $8000. I really like the way it looks and the possibilities available with this car, except for the interior. Ugly two tone brown. The dash layout also is not the greatest for for the components I want to use.
But.........
I also found a black 1998 2.5 RS with just over 100,000 miles, also an auto, for about $5500. Pretty self-explanitory(sp?) why I want this, albeit auto. New headgaskets, timing belt, water pump, ect. It has an STI exhuast/muffler. The only downside with this car is it is an ex-icerace car so the paint is chipped on it pretty good. The bumpers have been resprayed and basically look like crap, and I think the whole car has been resprayed too, I'm not sure, but that looks pretty good. Just not show car good, ya know?
So.......Stupid question.......What should I do?
Also, If I got the RS, I just know I'll end up swapping my whole drivetrain from my rusty, beat up SS into it.

Wow, I'd never buy a v6 mustang even though my first car was a straight 6 mustang. They break all the damn time, even my friend's 2000 GT was having problems a year or two after he got it.
I'd say go for the impreza and get a little more respect lol.

And as well a chipped V6 Mustang will lose to a N02 NA 2.2 wagon everyday.
Damn that kid was sad....

I had an 85 foxbody with a 351 bored 60 over, tremac 2550 tranny, full borla exhaust, dual stage NOS. That bitch was bad.
The only thing that sucked about that car was back in 85 they didn't make it so you could run dual exhaust so I had to run a 4-2-1 header collector to 3inch exhaust all the way back. Everyone thought I had an LX with a GT badge. They also laughed at the 5.8 badge where the 5.0 badge was.

Just have the impreza repainted with the money you save.

I'll second the Subaru. Fords have never impressed me with their reliability. You'll appreciate this decision when you're driving to the meet to show off your Impreza... instead of towing your Ford to the meet.

I'll walk before I drive any Ford. Period.

Exactly as if you owned one... only you'd be walking to the parts store. (ba-zing!)

Well, you guys talked me out of the Mustang. I never wanted it to be fast, just look good. I've never had any major problems with Fords, either. I know NOTHING of the newer 'Stangs. Unfortunatly, the bank talked me out of the RS, too, when they said NO. Little problem I had with credit cards before Christmas, but is ALL taken care of now (thank you overtime) and won't happen again. I'll see what happens in the next few weeks, though. Overtime is still rolling in for me, and I have no problem with that.

I'll figure a way to make it happen.

when i started working at the auto parts store, the first make number code(to select vehicle) was the ford one. It's 28 in the schucks/checker/kragen database. Chevy's 16 and dodge is 23
