My plan thus far is.....

1) buy a used ej22t, rip it apart and rebuild it and such.
1 1/2) Bigger turbo. vf8, 16g...ideas?
2) Swap it with the motor in my SS.

Is this a good idea? Tips for internal things i should know about that my chilton doesnt tell me or nething? Can someone with BASIC mechanic skillz pull this off? Im gunna do a full rebuild on the donor motor then swap her in.....if youve done this and know somthing books dont...PLZ chime in... Im also gunna take my time and ask ALOT of questions so this summer youll here from me ALOT. 8)

Question #1 If im doing a ej22t to ej22t swap. I dont have to swap any electrical stuff or nething right? (ECU)? Just pretty much swap turn on and go?

#2 What specialty tools am i gunna need for the rebuild/teardown? This is gunna be a learning exp for me :)

#3 Any one got a ej22t for sale? cheap? lol

#4 Got any good sources i should use for internals? pistons, rebuild kits...ectect?

added:#5 Can our blocks be sleeved? Do they need to be?

im lookin for like 200-250hp outta this project...depending on time/funds ill prolly try for some DOHC heads.AND DEFINETLY somekind of intercooling.(learned my lesson the hard way) :(

If you have any answers to things i havnt asked but need to know...CHIME IN!
Guess i should add why i wanna do this.....Seems like a fun thing to waste my time on, Ill learn alot while doing this. Since i wanna be a mechanic as my career seems like an all around good idea. And my motor has 270,000miles and is starting to knock, and has actually detonated a couple times(im stupid) Also leaks oil from just about everyseal me thinks.....and i wont have time for downtime on the car...but if i build me a bullet proof motor in me garage then swap her in ill have alot more fun and learn alot more, rather then trying to rush and have my car down for a week or two.

as always, thanx for your replys.....even if they are negative :D

200-250hp can be done on a stock motor, and likely a stock turbo for that matter.

My stocker turbo is slowly goin bye bye and i wanna run 15-18 lbs reliably and what not. the motor is close to death too. if i didnt need the car running. id just rebuild her :(

I have a hard time seeing much of anything on the stock turbo. I'd pick up something like an 18G that way if you want more power, you have expandability without having to sell your old one and buy a new one.
