d00d! I am SOOOOOOO Down for this. But before I throw my hat in I will of course want to know what the hell its gonna look like etc. Will this be a straight up copy of a turbo/touring wagon hood? Or is this thing gonna be freakier looking? I just want one that looks EXACTLY like that one Japanese dudes hood with the main scoop and holes for the 2 little ones in the corner. I'll put those in myself if need be. Maybe he can make cut-outs? I'll pay for the additional work if no one wants one. Currently the hood is all I need - and really I don't even need it but I'm not passing this one up. Are you going to do the front corner panels too? They are only bolted on so it would be easy to "loan" them for a mold. The rear corners are welded to the body tho.. On the wagon that is. I don't know what the sedans are like. DOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!! I'm going to loose it here!!!!! Where did you find this guy? Are you going to do a "group buy" on the list or what?

I'm disapointed you didn't get the picture of the Honda (.O.oO0.o..o0O Soap bubbles from washing my mouth out for saying the "H" word in a Subie forum) so you could put it up for the rest of us. Bad bad! ) Just kidding!

Well My car is back up and running. And i bought a set of discs to play
around with from a junk yard..

Getting back to the main subject.. I called my fiberglass guy,, and i am
definately going with Fiberglass.. It's lighter, more detailed, and
cheaper!!!!

I showed him pictures of that red legacy wgn and he said as long as i could
obtain a mint part (sti bumper or Rs bumper) the mold would reflect the same,
from there he can custom the work for no extra charge to make it fit to the
legacy. hood scoops are also not a problem. The vents might be tricky he
said. ALSO I inquired as if it were possiable to make BODY FLARES he showed
me a picture of a civic he did that now mounts corvette tires in the rear..
body flares and all.. i almost creamed my pants..

COST: he said molds cost about $30 a Square Foot. and the part itself is a
Quarter of that. so just for egsample a hood is aproxamtely 12square feet. =
360 bucks for the mold. 25% of that is... drumroll please!!!!!! 90 Bucks!!!!
so do your math go measure your car parts you want done ,figure your price..
add any modifications
(eg: 6sq Ft fender + 3sq ft fendar flare= 9sq feet..) and get back to me..
cause im not going to spend the money on the mold if i'm the only one going
in on this,, I'll wait till i really need it.. most likely i will be buying
my parts in January/Febuary to start the club rally circut,

I'm in, as long as he doesn't mind painting it shiney black as

Well he's going to make a mold of the RS hood scoup attach it to a turbo
hood/ or non turbo hood ( i don't have a turbo hood available to me.) and
then make the hood mold with everything attached.. he'll most likely have to
leave holes for the vents as the grillwork won't comeout good or at all..

He can do what ever you want.

Yes but i have plans on doing the hood,front and if possiable rear corner
panels, trunk. I'm gonna hold off on doors but i might do the rear doors in
fiberglass and body fill them permantly shut (for raceing purposes)

What are you trying to do here? RS hood? Grillwork?

What car do you own? Is it a BC or a BF? Cuz I am pretty darn sure that RS hoods will not fit my BF wagon. The modern wagons integrate the grill with the hood. So are you trying to get a RS hood or a BC/BF hood with a RS hood vent?

The other thing - the rear corner panels are DEFINITELY welded to the frame. You'll have to get creative trying to get them off and then figure a way to bolt them back on. Which if you go hog wild ripping out he interior etc would be easier to do. Or do you have a sedan? I had a BF wagon and I had to do a rear corner after I shoved someone off the road ( I really did shove them off the road too! :^O heh heh) I got home, put on my grubbies, and took one look at what I had to do and got back in the car and drove to a body shop. Maybe you have the equip to do that work but I thought I'd let you know.

So where are you going with this? Is this for a newer wagon/RS or are you doing one like the pic of the Japanese red wagon?

Egzactly.. A legacy hood with bigger scoup with vents this way there is no
problem

I have both and understand completely that the WGN rear corner panels do not
come off and are part of the body but i have no intentions of messing with my
WGN.

I most likely will be able to provide everyone with 91-92 hood and body parts
for those year WGN and Sedan. And any year that those parts may be compatable
with (as i do not know if a 92 turbo hood will fit on a 93,94 etc...) If
parts are donated we can make a mold and sent back the origanil owners part
and fiberglass replcement.

I will be working out a group price with the guy ASAP seeing as there is alot
of interest in the body parts and hood.

You may be disappointed if you try to bolt FRP (Fiber Re-enforced Plastic) body panels to the frame i.e. metal. May crack! Also the coefficient of thermal expansion of metal and FRP is different. Leads to same result.

I could see a hood scoop. Cut a hole in the hood and fix it in. But if you are talking about replacing whole body panels?? This is a big job!

I replaced '74 camaro rocker panels with FRP panels. I used "Lord Industrial Adhesive" This is the same Epoxy used on the Pontiac Fierro body panels. It worked very well. The epoxy is formulated to withstand the difference in thermal expansion. It sticks very well!

Again though this is not a simple project.

I'm DEFINITELY IN for a Hood.

I'll do other parts if there are other folks wanting to go in. I have to go home and look at the car and evaluate what I want to do to the rest of it. I'm thinking I might want doors too b/c I noticed the passenger side doors look like they had a dent in them at one time and it was pulled out with one of those fancy body shop tools.

Definite on the hood. I'd like to request 2 spots left open for cut-outs for the smaller hood vents.

Corners maybe
Air dam WRX style maybe
Doors maybe

I'll update when I get home.
