What is the method for removing the body or scalp as I think it is called, from an outside mirror? It looks like if you can get the mirror glass backing plate with the swivel socket piece off, you you can get to the screws which appear to attatch to the scalp. Can't reach the screws with the glass mounting plate in place. Any ideas?

Park it on a narrow street with the mirror sticking out.

Parking it is not necessary to break the scalp. My daughter found out that if you back the mirror into a carport support column, enough force will be created to pry it off, in pieces of course.
I have a replacement mirror, but it is all black. The broken one is painted the body color, teal. I have a spray can of color matched paint from
www.paintworldinc.com I'd like to remove the scalp and paint it separately instead masking off the black trim and the part of the mount that will not be teal.
