igniter relocate for TMIC

Is there any problem with cutting the igniter leads and splicing in longer wires to be able to relocate the igniter to make way for a WRX IC?

Do these wires perform a function that cutting and splicing would effect their performance?

Any particular type of hardware that you would reccomend?

Would unwrapping the wire bundle that they lead into allow me to separate them out and get the added length?

I didnt need to lengthen the wires, I just bolted it to the side of the same mount.

Splinter,I see in your picture in the intercooler topic where yours is mounted. I want to mouint mine outboard of the brake booster on the firewall. Right now that group of wires going to the igniter head back to the firewall where they join in with another group of wires and are wrapped together in the stock configuration. When unbolted from the stock mount, it won't reach far enough outboard to get to where yours is. I will look at unwrapping that group of wires and try to get them free from the others to get some extra length.

Those five wires that go to the ignitor separated out from the bundle it T'd into and went outboard the way I wanted them to go. Didn't need to splice to get the longer length. The ignitor is now mounted on the firewall outboard of the brake booster.

Related issue: noticed that the AC line I had previously routed under the pitch stop mount was up against the clutch lever that the clutch slave cylinder piston rod bears on, so secured it back so it no longer touches it. Somebody else had posted that the AC line had worn through at that point on their car.

For reference, you can splice and lengthen the wires to the ignitor.
