Rod, your hunch was right. The cylinder that was supposedly the culprit
was indeed right next to the brake booster. In case you didn't know,
the EJ22T (Legacy Turbo) engine has the rare piston underside oil
squirting system that is found on all closed-deck exotic Subaru
engines. I believe that the mechanic who erroneously diagnosed terminal
blow-by saw the oil being thrown around when he looked down the oil fill
spout and interpreted this as blow-by.

I just had a compression test with the following results:

120/118/118/110

%2 on the Leakdown, he tested it 3 times to make sure it was that
good.

I'm getting a little oil in my #1 but otherwise everything looks very
good.

I tracked down the miss to a disconnected PCV pipe causing a vacuum
leak, we think. I haven't had time to reassemble everything to test
out that theory but if it's not that or the O2, i'm probably
screwed...
