Front Speakers for 92+ Legacys

What have you guys used to replace the front speakers in your legacys? Not sure if the 91's have the same door panels and speaker sizes... my last legacy I kinda tore up my panels to fit new speakers... i'd like to get something that will more or less bolt in. Also, something that will handle about 250 watts RMS.
Thanks guys,

I got a pair of Memphis m-class components, but I needed to make pretty big spacers.

search but for the money pioneers are the best bet. very cheap and thin and good sound. by the way speaker wattage doesn't mean shit. You dont actually think that what ever amp you have is running 250 watts do you? you dont need more than like 40 watts to seperates. and those are seperates where you are going through a passive x-over. subs however are a different story.

Well, the amp Im running puts out 450watts to 2 channels. I figured 250 watt max speakers would be efficient enough to handle my amp. I had a pair of 6x8 pioneers in my RX that had a max 230watt rating and they worked real well with my amp.
My subs are already taken care of. What size speakers were you guys using? Will 6" work or 6.5" or do I have to go smaller with 5.5"

6.5's fit the doors and 6.5's go in the rear of the wagons, pretty sure its the same for sedans but I could be wrong. what kind of amp is it and tell me what size fuse it has in it and I'll tell you how many watts its really putting out.
P.S. this post goes in the body chassis interior forum.

6.5" Infiniti Kappa 2 Ways (sorta older)

Sedans also use 6.5" in rear deck.
The issue with the front doors is requiring a spacer so the speaker doesn't hit the window when it's down, or vice-versa.

The amp is a MTX. I will have to get you better spec's when I get home. I can tell the rears have some sort of aftermarket speaker, so maybe I'll put those up front. I still gotta pull the front covers to inspect the speakers that are already in there.

MTX is not too bad but keep in mind that there is no sanctioning body that tracks what companies can or cannot rate their own amps at for wattage. MTX is pretty good because they used to, not sure if they still do send out a cert with every new amp showing what it did on a test bench before it left the factory. keep in mind that an amp hypothetically doubles power output every time the resistance is doubled (lower number on woofer) there is some loss but thats how they rate this stuff. They will rate an amp at 250 X 2 at .5 ohms. when running at 4 ohms that is less than 40 watts. Note: not all amps are stable below 4 ohms. When we used to see people bringing in these amps saying 1000watts and the thing had a 15 amp fuse and 16awg wire coming out of it we would call it the WLS reading...when lightening strikes

Thanks Mike. Looks like i'll have some testing to do. How do I make sure im getting 2 or 4 ohms to my speakers?

the speaker depicts the ohmage. most car speakers are 4ohm. just putone on each channel of the amp and the amp will run at 4 ohms. if you put two 4 ohm speakers in paralell (plus to plus and minus to minus) you in effect double the resistant and make it 2 ohms of a load. that amp will tem try to play at 2 ohms and so on. conversly if you wire the speakers in series (plus to the minus of the other and the plus and minus of both speakers to the amp you are halving the ohms or making 8 ohms and running the amp at 8 ohms and half the power. browse around at
http://www.the12volt.com/ lots of info there.

So i found out the previous owner had wired the car for an amp in the back. Also, the rear speakers arent stock so I took the time to remove the door panel to see what was in the front.
Looks like the prev owner already installed some nice speakers. They are Infinity, 2 way, rated for 75watts RMS Max 225watts. THe magnet on the back is huge, and he has spacers in there to keep it from interfering with the window when its down. They were poorly mounted so I will use some new hardware to remount them, but they are wired with external crossovers and look to be some very good speakers

Now I just have to fabricate a cargo cover or something to hide my subs and get to wirin'
