legacycentral bbs

hey i was just wondering what the guys and gals that rallyX or stage rally their legacys were running for suspension. i have a 90 wagon and would like to get it off the ground before i decide to take it out and trash on it. any info (i.e. name brand, website, what type, how much lift, poss. cost) would be greatly appreciated.

stock works fine, maybe upgraded struts. you dont want the car to be loose, youll just be tagging a bunch of cones.
a little stiffer never hurt but stock seems to be a happy medium.

I wouldn't waste a lot of money on expensive upgrades since it won't make a huge difference in rallyX. But, it is very very worthwhile to replace old shocks with new shocks.

You could just get new shocks from the dealer, but aftermarket shocks from KYB shocks are hardly any more expensive, so lots of people do that. I rallycrossed on one set of KYB AGX for 4 years and really liked them. You could also get KYB Gr2. Both have been discussed to death on the board so you could search on that.

I GUESS THE PROBLEM WAS STATED INCORRECTLY. WHAT I AM LOOKING TO DO IS GET A LITTLE MORE HEIGHT OUT OF IT. IT JUST SITS TOO LOW TO THE GROUND FOR ME.(sorry bout the caps lock )

Oops. Sorry about the poor reading skills.

I don't know much about what will give you a lift. I've always run at stock height or maybe a tiny bit lower and never had any trouble at rallycross. Your courses may be rougher - I have the impression that you westerners are hardcore like that - in which case you can ignore what I think. But if your courses are like mine, then lift would just hurt cornering, balance, and ever so slightly increase the chance of rolling a car that doesn't have a cage (although that risk is extremely small!).

I'd search the board for both "outback suspension" and/or "lift kit". I know I've seen threads about both - but that's all I know.

Unless you want to do something rediculous like get some DMS.

I got a set of WRX suspension, cheap and gave me a little lift

Another option is

A- replace all struts with new....

B- Stuff the stock springs with "stuffers" Cant remember what they are call, but they make the stock springs stiffer. I cant imagine wanting to be higher than stock....

If you want a little more height you might look into some Ground Control coilovers. They are intended for lowering but I don't see why they couldn't lift the car too with taller springs. They list the kit for the 92-94 legacy, I don't know what the differences are between 90 and 92.

Mine came with 8" tall springs and I can't quite get back to stock ride height. But with 10" tall springs you should be able to get close to 2" of lift out of it.(it's not like our stock suspension doesn't have enough up travel)

You can get spring rates all the way from 100# to 800# so you can choose how firm you want it.(granted stock struts are only going to be able to handle so much).

I however rallycross mine 1" lower than stock and don't have any issues. (Other than the 325# auto-x springs )
