1st of all I would like to say HELLO to everyone as this is my 1st post on this forum. I have been lurking around for a few weeks and decided to finally join the forum last nite.

I have a 93 Legacy FWD AT that I bought for a winter beater, 92K miles when I got it 3 months ago, one owner car... bit of rust but oh well, winter beaters can't be pretty.

I have a issue.

When the car is started and finally starts reaching operating temperature, it misfires every once in a while. Sometimes it feels like it runs on 3. Only after a 50 mile highway drive (may I say HARD drive) the idle is not as bumpy.

I have already done- All OEM Subaru parts from my local dealer.
Timing belt + accessory belts, cam seals, crank seal, oil pump reseal.
Cam plug and Orings.
Valve cover gaskets + oil filler tube Oring.
Intake manifold gaskets (hunting down the idle issue)
4 new NGK plugs
OEM Spark plug wires.
OEM brand new MAF.
OEM brand new 02 sensor.
Brake flush.
Engine flush.
Fresh OEM air filter.
Fresh OEM fuel fitler.

My MPG has gone up a bit, and even with 80-90MPH commutes (Chicago can get crazy) I manage around 26MPG.

I ohmed out the injectors and found them to be about 12.2ohm all around.

Seeing these injectors are made by JECS and similar to those used on Nissans, I wouldn't be supprised if those injectors where indeed bad..... I dont know of many early 90s Nissans around with original injectors !

Any info would be MUCH appreciated. I want to make sure this car will last me and the family for a while as I will probably give it to someone in my family after winter is over.

Welcome.

The injectors are fine electrically, the factory manual says they should be in the 11-12 ohm range. They still may have deposits/clogged....so you may want to have them cleaned.

I didn't see in your list the coolant temp sensor. It can affect idle, especially if you're having issues when the engine goes from cold to hot. I'd also suggest replacing the thermostat while you're at it. Make sure to use Subaru OEM thermostats, as aftermarket ones can give you issues.

Josh, thanks for the reply. Nissan doesn't want the injectors to be cleaned but I do have my own injector cleaner machine that I have used on my other car with great sucess. I assume since JECS makes the injectors and Nissan didn't want to use any cleaners on their injectors, Subaru would be the same.

I will repleace the ECT and see if that helps at all. Thermostat is OEM, I did it while I was doing the timing belt along with the water pump.

I will also try making my own grounding kit for it, older Nissans and Toyotas tend to loose their ground resistance and it helps them a whole lot when you install a grounding kit or even clean off all the grounds.

I have a feeling its injectors, my cooworker keeps on saying- its JECS- which is same shit as Nissan uses.... you should know better.

Even thou I work on cars for a living, I don't like throwing parts on cars to fix em.

You can clean the injectors. I've had several sets I've sent off to get cleaned & blueprinted.
