about a month ago when it started to get really cold in the mornings my car would tick loudly for about the first mile or so but then it stoped. well last night we went out to play in the snow and it started ticking again well this time it wouldent go away and it still hasent. i checked the oil and its fine but i need sugestions or ideas of what it could be.

Hydraulic Lash Adjuster. Makes up the gap between the rocker and the valve. Like to get full of air/stick/fail and cause the infamous ticking sound. Seafoam the crap out of your oil just before a change and it should help.

The cold also makes them act up. Recently, we've had nighttime lows around 15 degrees and mine tick for the first 10 minutes the car is running. Today 15 was the high and my car didn't stop ticking all the way to work as it was probably -5 degrees when I drove to work. I do need to bleed and clean mine, but not until it warms up a bit.

I clean and bleed them manually. I don't run the seafoam through the car. I pull the whole rocker assembly and remove each HLA and clean and bleed it in a fresh bowl of motor oil. You can remove the valve covers and rockers without messing with the timing belt or cams. It's a great secondary service to do if replacing leaky valve covers and bolt gaskets...

I had the same problem, and i ran that sea foam, heard it 1 TIME after seafoam for like half a milisecond but i think ill try in the oil, next, i ran into crankcase by the way through the pcv valve. My dads truck did the same thing ands it was new, so he tried synthetic oil and it went away on the cold mornings.
