I'm pulling an ej22t out of my parts car this weekend and want to start the tear down and rebuild. Does anyone know of a good machine shop around Westchester County NY that will do a good job cleaning and prepping my block and balancing my rotating assembly? What should I expect to pay for all this?

Also, if I don't need to bore out the cylinders, should I just avoid it? Or, is it worth going .20 or .30 over just to get the added displacement?

Unless something gauged your cylinder walls, you won't need anything more than a rehone

So adding displacement isn't worth it? I'm getting the impression that the only place worth spending you money on these motors to produce more horsepower is on the turbo and fuel system.

Like was said above, boring over size won't do much for you. On a street car, this is generally done to re-use the block after there's been some damage to the walls. However, you may find that your block may need machining if it's got a few miles on it coupled with sitting around and being exposed to moisture. The cyl liners are iron and the surfaces will rust.

Bang for the buck, your best bet is to go bigger turbo, fuel, IC, and ECU. In comparison, sleeving or stroking these motors get's real pricey $$. And once you've done that then you'd want the above mentioned items anyway.

Also there isn't much material in these engines to bore out, not like a full iron block.
