Cooling squirting out onto exhaust!

After getting my fuel filter changed this evening, I took it for a drive on the highway for a few minutes. When I was at a stoplight, I noticed there was a considerable amount of white smoke coming up from the hood. Pulled into a driveway, popped the hood and saw a stream of coolant on the left side of the engine, squirting out and down onto the exhaust heatshield.

What the hell is broken now?

Is it at the front or the back of the engine?
Maybe turbo coolant line loose?
O-ring for the coolant crossover pipe?

Standing in front of the car, looking down and to the left of the engine, I can see it squirting in front of the exhaust shield. Yet, it's fairly far back in there. I tried to take some pics, but they turned out blurry and didn't offer any help for bearings.

Would it be dangerous to the engine to drive it like this to a mechanic?

It sound kinda like the banjo fitting on the cylinder head for the coolant line to the turbo. You could fix it your self. As far as driving it to a mechanic, Im not going to say yes or no. Its your call really. If it were me, I would do it my self.

Chris...It's probably your coolant return hose from the turbo...

It is a "U" shaped rubber hose...which burst on my car on 3 different occasions in the past 2 years until I fixed it...

That is my best guess...

It's a very easy fix btw

I took a look first in the daylight and sure enough, you're right Nick, its the damn u-shaped tube. Depending how I wiggle it around, the leak will stop or start. Must be right at the bottom of it too, since I still can't actually see the exact point where its leaking out.

That hose is a bitch to get at. You will need some extra long pliers with angled tips or one of those long cable hose clamp pliers to get the clamps off & on.
