ok, so i used to work at the "as seen on tv" store.
we sold those things for like 80 bucks. so being a "responsible" employee, i took it upon myself to put one in my honda to see if it worked (NO I DIDNT PAY 80 BUCKS!!! i "rented" it)
.... it didnt do anything. i think i saw an extra 1 mpg.. and i think that was all in my brain.
so. i left it in the honda, and i think its still in there. my roomate owns the car... and .... its still doing nothing.

There are no magic potions, fountains of eternal youth, or formulas to turn lead into gold, but they still try to sell them. And, yes, I'm jealous - I need to come up with something like that.

Kinda like magic "weight loss" pills, some jerk will pay you anything if they think its the cheepest, EASIEST way to do something expensive and hard, and end up waisting their time and money anyway.
Quite brillaint.

i wonder if the stock air intake system was designed to flow air in the most efficient way for the car, not need some stupid piece of metal. That would make more sence

I replaced a sad ebay "cold air intake" on a thirg gen Eclipse and the one in the salvage yard had a tornado thingy in the throttle body, so I snagged it as well.
It did absolutely nothing different in or out... I used it without the stupid thing for three tanks of fuel and then installed with three tanks of fuel... nada... I got better fuel economy results and a smoother idle from replacing the pcv valve that hadn't been replaced in the cars 80k mile life than with the tornado.
It's like auto-snake oil...

Some how people with extra tin laying around their shop thought they could be smarter than many well paid engineers, that design intake systems for automobiles. And also rob the average person with something that everyone wants, cheap power upgrades.

haha I bought one of those one time when I was wicked high back in college and put it in my 91L and it made it run worse. Probably one of the dumbest things I did when I smoked.

I want to sell a reissue of 1920's tape worm weight-loss pills updated for the new millenium. You sell someone tape worms like the original idea, but in a gelcoat pill and after a certain time have them take another pill that kills it. I just have to find out if there's a pill to kill them and how long the worm should be allowed to live.

You'd be much better off buying one of the adjustable powerbands or engine oil bypass kits from Kalecoauto.
