what is an interference engine design

basically it means if the cams aren't timed correctly, the piston can hit
the valve if it comes up and the valve is open.
like if a timing belt breaks when the valve is open, the piston will hit the
valve when the piston reaches TDC :^)
Hi does anybody know if my 92 4wd turbo legacy has this engine ? I am getting worried if my cam belt breaks
