Ok, the car was running fine - I have about 100 miles on the car. Was running almost no boost and everything was working perfectly....

I am now getting a serious miss? at anything other than idle.

I can HEAR something grounding out.... I bought new plug wires and installed them and STILL have the problem....

The sound is APPEARS to be located near the throttle body. There is DEFINATELY something arching and grounding out....

I had to move the ignitor to install my tmic. I moved it towards the drivers side and installed it with one screw temporarily....

What else could it be other than the ignitor? This was happening with and without my msd dis2 (which worked perfectly) and with 2 different coils....

Any ideas?

Bump - no one here knows what a car runs like with a dead ignitor?

Have you tried doing it in the dark?

i think a dead ignitor=no running engine at all

Thats not a bad idea.

Bheinmen74 - Im pretty sure I read stories on here where one cylinder was down from a dead ignitor....

Anyway, im not going to be able to work on the car for a few weeks.... I just got out of surgery...

I was hoping to have the car finished before my surgery date, but I guess it will have to wait....

Hopefully it will at least be running for the winter so I dont have to drive my miata in the snow

But wouldn't it be 2 cylinders down from an ignitor? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but our ignitors are 2-channel, with one channel being for the #1 and 2 cylinders, while the other is for the #3 and 4 cylinders. If one channel were out, then that would kill 2 cylinders.

Ok, Blackbart sent me another ignitor (thank you) and my car now runs perfectly!!!!
