Resetting ECU, How to?

Hello there.

I've just been doing a bit of reading up on the forums.
I'm just trying to figure out how to reset the ECU, to clear what it has learned.
I've noticed with my previous car that after a while, it became more responsive and learned what I wanted from the engine.

So, to erase the data it has stored (The values).
What do I do?

A. Disconnect battery (Does this work?)
B. Remove Fuse 14 (Does this work?)
C. A OR B and hold down brake pedal for a few seconds to drain capacitors.
D. Something about wires? I take it there is a connector that is not connected when the ECU is learning, but when its connected its in test mode?

How will I know it has reset itself?

Thank you,
Daniel.

*Edit* The car I'm talking about is a 1996 Legacy Sedan 2.0GL.
