FS: 90-91 EDM headlights

EDIT<<<<<I see that the discussion is going back and forth between the EDM's and the JDM's. The EDM's can be aimed correctly in the states that enforce this, NJ for one. In PA all they care about is that they turn on and off. If you had the JDM's in PA you most likely pass inspection but someone who you blinded my track you down and take a hammer to them.>>>>>

These are glass and are correct for LHD cars, legal in the US.
They have the electric adjusters but you must fabricate your own switch if you wish to adjust them from the cabin.
Send me a PM if interested :D

How do you figure? They arent DOT approved.

No headlights are DOT approved.

The DOT doesn't approve things.

It adjusts the beam up and down, if you are on a country road with no oncoming traffic, you can set them higher to lighten further down the road, then back down if cars are coming.

Not trying to jack the thread, but maybe it'll reassure anyone worried about these being illegal. I found this letter from the DOT via google. There's a highlighted quote in it from the DOT saying they don't approve lights. It's actually a good read.

All thats saying is that "DOT approved" is sloppy terminology. JDM lights do not comply to DOT standards, which means they aren't legal.

No, DOT doesnt actively approve lights, but they set the standard to which they must function.

Blah blah blah. And our catless exhausts and many other things on our cars aren't legal either. Who gives a fuck? These are a great part and Bart's a great vendor, so why don't you guys take your pissing match of minutae somewhere else? Splinter, wasn't it you who recently got on someone's arse for trying to buy an oil filler from me in your thread? Show the same respect that you ask for yourself!

Bart,
Let me know if you come up with a single glass lens. The guy in Europe who got me mine still hasn't come through with a replacement lens...

I don't think anyone was trying to stop anyone from buying from Blackbart. These headlights are for LHD cars anyway.

There's a difference between trying to stop the wrong info from being spread, and trying to stop someone from buying an item.

LHD lights scatter light as such:

___________ __________/

The passenger side headlight throws up a little light on the side so you can see the street signs on your right.

RHD lights scatter light as such:

\__________ ___________

Same principle, except on the other side of the car.

Using RHD headlights on an LHD road will:

1) Not give you sufficient light to see the street signs
2) Blind oncoming drivers.

Don't use RHD lights on an LHD road.

Blackbart is selling a good product here. They're appropriate for USDM cars and won't fog up like the plastic ones.

If I had the squiddy, I'd buy them right now.

These are the facts. They've been posted COUNTLESS times. Please, no more discussion of JDM tyt3ne55 or any other such garbage in this thread, or I'll ask a mod or admin that it gets locked.

I have these on my '91... nice! They really kick up at the right side, it lights up roadsigns like you have the brights on, and the forward cutoff is razor sharp, so no one complains, even running high output bulbs.
You do have to cut and splice the wiring for the connectors, but the color codes are the same.
They also have "city lights" , low-watt bulbs in a separate compartment at the inner edge... I'm experimenting with small 12v halogen bulbs to try and make DRLs.
Best of all... they don't turn the color of phlegm every 4 months!

Do you ever get the 92-94 lights? I see you have plenty of these but I've only seen one set of the later ones recently.

Is the housing and reflector on these still plastic or is it a material that would better handle heat? I want to be able to run the 130W high beams without worrying about melting the reflector.
