This problem arouse this morning after my drive home.

Got off the thurway, stopped at the light, it went green I accelerated at about half throttle and the heard a loud clunking with a bit of vibration.

Now I get this every time I start from a stop.
The sound disappears with speed.

What could cause this and How can I fix it.

The noise sounds like the same noise I heard before when the AWD would engage but now it happens all the time and frequently when I accelerate from a stop.

Maybe a bad carrier bearing? Do the RPM's move like the front wheels are slipping?

Turns out to be an absolutely thrashed U joint....

ugh.

Now what.

Maybe find a local autoyard and pull the shaft. Or find someone in the part shed of this forum.
