When its really cold out The speedo(cluster) would whine til warm, once warm it would go away.

now today it stopped working. Do our cars have a cable or is it a sensor like the newer cars?

Thanks

Tyson

It's a cable. So pull out the cluster and see if it just came unplugged. If not, then it just snapped somewhere.

My 94 TW has a cable which plugs into the back of the cluster. It's a real joy to replace!

All the first gen legacies should have cable speedos.

If you have an AT, you may also want to check the base piece where it connects to the transmission.
